SGPC to repair Afghan gurdwaras

Ludhiana, December 6: THE Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to carry out the repair, renovation and reconstruction of Gurdwara buildings in Afghanistan which suffered damage during the Taliban regime.

This decision was taken in the meeting of its Dharam Parchar Committee held at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir, about 20 kms from here today under the presidency of SGPC chief Avtar Singh. It was also decided to send a team to Afghanistan to carry out a survey of the damaged sites.

It was also decided at the meeting to observe the 400th martyrdom day Gurpurab of the 5th guru, Arjun Dev, and 300 years of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sampuranta (completion of compilation) in 2006 with great respect, devotion and in accordance with the glorious Sikh tradition.
